STANDART OPERATING PROCEDURE

( IMPORT INTO INDONESIA )

Some of you might be ever faced some problems for your shipments into Indonesia due to No information provided by your partner in Indonesia.

The following are the custom regulations in place for all imports into Indonesia. Any deviation from these regulations would jeopardize the consignment into long delays in customs clearance and subjected to heavy FINE/ Penalty (Usd 2100 - Usd 21,000), depend on mistake incurred.

To avoid future problems, we would encourage you to read the information provided below and apply the necessary operational process for all your future consignments into Indonesia

  1. Indonesian customs requires House Bill of Lading and Master Bill of Lading (Shipping Line Bill of Lading) to facilitate clearance of cargoes/shipments at the seaport.
  2. The details as stated in your HBL and MBL must match 100% with subject consignment and can not have any discrepancy will be tolerated. The items to look out for are as follows:

Point 1 & 2 above apply to all consignments arriving Indonesia be they direct consolidation, FCL , LCL otherwise.

Therefore, if in one container consisting of Five HBL and one MBL, so the shipping marks on each HBL must also be shown on the MBL. The total quantity/gross or net weight/measurement on each HBL can be combined when requesting issuing MBL, but the total amount of quantity/gross or net weight/measurement must be match with the total quantity of HBL.

  1. Destination office must get the pre-alert or shipping information not more than 10 days after vessel sailing from Origin port (Europe, USA, Australia). You are required to fax copies of the HBL & MBL to Indonesia. Pre-alert in this format an absolute MUST for us (as your agent in Indonesia).
  2. To avoid problems and expedite clearance at the seaport, we must receive copies of the document at least one week before the vessel arrives Indonesian ports for traffic from Europe , USA and Australia , and at least four days before the vessel arrives Indonesian seaport for traffic from Far East, except Singapore, we need to get the document 1 day after vessel depart.
  3. Indonesian custom authorities are explicitly clear in what they require and will impose unreasonable penalty for failures to comply.

The most Important is to not put cargoes to other Indonesian port onto consolidation box to Jakarta, as it will required special (Model H) document to clear the goods. It will take long delay and unnecessary money to pay to the custom authority.
